Ready to Fill Your Logbook? CQ WPX SSB 2026 kicks off this weekend! 🎙️🌍
The amateur radio bands are set to come alive with one of the year’s premier events: the CQ World Wide WPX Contest (SSB). This is not just a contest; it’s a global celebration of prefixes! Whether you’re a serious contester or a casual operator giving out points, this is the weekend to be on the air.
Why is WPX special? Every unique prefix is a multiplier (e.g., K1, G4, PY1, W1, etc.)! This levels the playing field, making every contact count toward an explosive score.
KEY DETAILS:
📅 WHEN: Starts March 28th at 00:00 UTC | Ends March 29th at 23:59 UTC (The 48 hours of this weekend).
🗣️ MODE: SSB (Voice Only).
📡 BANDS: 1.8, 3.5, 7, 14, 21, and 28 MHz.
SUMMARY OF GENERAL RULES:
Objective: Amateur stations worldwide contact as many other amateurs in as many prefix areas as possible. Everyone works everyone.
The Exchange: RS report (e.g., 59) plus a progressive 3-digit serial number, starting with 001 for the first contact (e.g., 59 001). Some multi-operator categories use multi-digit numbers.
Scoring: Contacts with different continents are worth more points than contacts on the same continent (though this varies slightly by band). The total score is (Total Contact Points) multiplied by (Total Number of Different Prefixes Worked).
Operating Categories: From Single Operator All Band to Multi-Operator Single Transmitter, and even Classic or Rookie categories, there’s a place for everyone! Check the full rules at cqwpx.com for details.
This is the perfect opportunity to test your station, work new countries, and join thousands of others in the definitive prefix chase.
Good luck to all, 73, and see you in the pileups! DX! 📡
