SP DX CONTEST 2023 – RULES
ORGANIZERS: PZK – Polish Amateur Radio Union (Polski Związek Krótkofalowców) in cooperation with the SP DX Club.
OBJECTIVE: For amateurs around the world to contact as many Polish stations in as many provinces of Poland as possible. Polish stations use the following prefixes: 3Z, HF, SN, SO, SP, SQ and make contacts with the rest of the world (except Poland) in as many DXCC entities as possible.
DATE: The first full weekend of April from 15:00 UTC (April 1, 2023) Saturday to 14:59 UTC (April 2, 2023) Sunday.
BANDS: 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10m according to the IARU Band Plan.
MODES: PHONE and CW. Contacts on PHONE and CW with the same station in the MIXED category are counted as separate contacts.
CALLING PRACTICE:
Polish stations: “CQ CONTEST” on PHONE, or “CQ TEST” on CW;
Foreign stations “CQ SP”.
EXCHANGE:
Polish stations send a report, consisting of a signal report (RS or RST) plus the letter of the province designator (e.g., 59 B). The 16 province designators are: B, C, D, F, G, J, K, L, M, O, P, R, S, U, W and Z.
Foreign stations send a report consisting of a signal report (RS or RST) plus contact number beginning with 001 (e.g., 59 001).
POINTS:
For Polish stations: A QSO with a DX station (outside Europe) is 3 points, a QSO with a station in Europe is 1 point. Contacts between Polish stations: 0 points.
For foreign stations: 3 points for every contact with a Polish station.
MULTIPLIER:
For Polish stations: Countries on the current DXCC list (except SP) contacted on each band, regardless of mode.
For foreign stations: Provinces in Poland contacted on each band, regardless of mode, for a maximum of 96 (16 provinces x 6 bands).
SCORING: The total QSO points on all bands multiplied by the sum of the multipliers on all bands.

MO: Multi-operator Single Transmitter means that only one signal may be transmitted at any given time.
SO: Single Operator means that all contest activi- ties, station operating, logging and scorekeeping are performed by one person. In addition, only one signal may be transmitted at any given time.
SOTB: Single Operator Three Band – SO on any three chosen bands.
HP: High Power – Max. output power allowed by your license class.
LP: Low Power – Max. output power is 100 watts.
QRP: Max. output power is 5 watts.
AB: All Bands
SB: Single Band
MIXED: Mixed Mode
CHECKLOG: The entry will be used for cross-checking only.
GENERAL RULES:
Every participant must declare only one of the above entry categories. Any remaining QSOs, including duplicates, should be left in the log for cross-checking.
Entrants in all categories may use QSO finding assistance. No self-spotting is allowed.
All station transmitters, receivers and antennas must be located within a 500 meter diameter circle. No change of location is allowed during the contest period.
The call sign and the exchange must be correctly copied by both stations in order to receive QSO credit.
QSOs with stations without submitted logs are counted as confirmed only if such a valid callsign was present at least four (4) times in all submitted logs.
SHORT WAVE LISTENERS (SWL): Polish SWLs must log the callsign, signal report and exchange sent by a foreign station, as well as the callsign of the Polish station. Foreign SWLs must log the callsign and exchange sent by the Polish station, as well as the callsign of the foreign station. Points, multiplier and scoring is the same as for transmitting stations. Both Polish stations and foreign stations can only be logged once per band and mode, except if one of the stations is a new multiplier.
CONTEST LOGS: Electronic logs in the Cabrillo format should be sent via the spdxcontest.pzk.org.pl website only. Logs sent via e-mail are no longer acceptable. All entries must be submitted no later than April 16, 2023, 23.59 UTC.
CONTEST RESULTS: Preliminary results will be available on the SP DX Contest website (spdxcontest.pzk.org.pl) on Apr 30, 2023. Any discrepancies and requests for clarification can be submitted to committee@spdxcontest.pzk.org.pl until May 7, 2023. Official results will be published on the SPDX Contest website by May 14, 2023.
AWARDS: Every participant will be able to download a ready-to-print electronic certificate. Top scores in each category, country and continent may receive plaques sponsored by individuals and groups. It is also expected that there will be special awards in categories designated by their sponsors.
DISQUALIFICATION: Violation of amateur radio regulations in the country of the contestant or violation of the rules of the contest, or unsportsmanlike conduct, will be deemed sufficient cause for disqualification.
EXCLUSIONS: Due to current events, the organisers have decided to exclude stations from Russia and Belarus from participation in the SP DX Contest 2023. SP stations’ QSOs with the above countries will not be scored and do not count as a multiplier.
DISPUTES: Decisions of the Contest Committee will be final.
